Make sure nothing tries to use/poll the backend

We are not deploying a backend (which is only used for exporting to PDF, PNG, etc.), so remove/overwrite functions or set variables in such a way that mxGraph does not try to access it when you load it or press a non-disabled button (see #13 (closed) for disabled menu items you shouldn't worry about).
